Seedling House Volunteer Program Closes Out on Aug. 20
Our inaugural summer volunteer program for our Seedling House came to a close following seven weeks of several high school volunteers, ranging from 12-17 years old, tending and growing seedlings in the Seedling House, located at our building. The project also involved distributing and selling seedlings to community members and farmers. The project was successfully led by Shanea Holder, our volunteer manager, a University of Guyana student studying Social Work with a passion for agriculture. View photos of Seedling House activities
LFU Scholarship Students’ “Fun Day” at Toucan Mall Pool
Toucan Mall Pool in Amelia’s Ward, Linden, was the place to be on Aug. 3 when our LFU scholarship students—from primary to university levels—got together to have fun and to fellowship. This is part of the enrichment embedded in our scholarship programs, as we recognize that social engagement outside of the classroom helps in the development of the whole person. It was a lovely day with parents and visitors, too!
UG Student Haslyn Small Receives More Support for Dental Studies
Haslyn Small is another UG student that we are able to support, thanks to the generosity of NY-based dentist, Dr. Shaun Massiah, who provided a monogrammed 2024 IPad for imaging and suture kit in this round of assistance. Haslyn and his classmates were further blessed with lots of dental equipment provided by NJ-based dentist, Dr. Robin Lucas Massay of Lucas Dental Associates and colleagues. @lucasdentalassociates
