Celebrating Heritage, Honoring Our Seniors

A Pre-Emancipation “Senior Lime” brought warmth, laughter, and cultural pride to the LFU Guyana Inc. building on Washer Pond Road in Linden. Dressed elegantly in vibrant African attire, our seniors enjoyed singing folk songs and connecting with some of our beloved cultural traditions, celebrating a rich heritage that continues to inspire future generations. Filled with friendship, dancing, and joyful fellowship, the gathering was a beautiful reminder that life is meant to be celebrated at every age. We extend heartfelt thanks to our seniors, volunteers, supporters, our steadfast partner Ladies on a Mission (L.O.A.M.), and Linden Fund Canada for generously donating walkers to support our senior community.

Growing Tomorrow's Leaders Through Agriculture

Another summer of youth engagement concluded as LFU Guyana Inc. wrapped up its Summer 2026 Agricultural Initiative, combining two programs that continue to cultivate knowledge, leadership, and environmental responsibility. The Agricultural Internship Program, now in its fifth year, immersed post-secondary students in the day-to-day realities of farming through hands-on experiences. Over the years, the program has enabled interns to work alongside farmers in West Watooka, Wismar, and along the Linden-Soesdyke Highway, providing practical insights into agriculture and agribusiness. Meanwhile, the Seedling House Summer Program celebrated its third year, giving younger participants valuable experience in seedling production, gardening, and sustainable agriculture, enhanced by generous donations of seedlings and tools from Region 10's Agriculture Department this year. Youth from both programs also participated in LFU Guyana Inc.'s inaugural Environmental Stewardship Workshop Series (more on this initiative below).

Environmental Stewardship Initiative Seeks to Build Youth Ambassadors

LFU Guyana Inc. recently launched its Environmental Stewardship Initiative with a five-week pilot Environmental Workshop Series held from July 22 to August 19, bringing together young people from Linden and across Region 10 to explore the environmental issues shaping their communities. Led by experienced environmental professionals, the workshops combined practical knowledge with real-world perspectives, inspiring participants to see themselves as part of the solution and increasing their understanding of how climate change, flooding, waste management, drainage, soil erosion, and other environmental challenges affect their communities. The workshop series wrapped up on August 19 with the presentation of certificates to the youths. The series marks the first phase of a long-term initiative to develop youth environmental ambassadors who will promote environmental awareness, sustainability, and responsible stewardship within their schools, families, and communities.

Virtual Annual General Meeting – September 19

Linden Fund USA warmly invites members, supporters, partners, and friends to participate in its Virtual Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Participants may join via Zoom with or without video or connect by telephone, making it easy for everyone to take part. Your voice, ideas, and continued support are invaluable as we work together to strengthen our impact and advance our mission. We look forward to your participation and to another year of serving our communities together.

Join Us for Global Cleanup Day

Following the community engagement on Nelson Mandela Day of Service on July 18, which included the beautification of the Linden Museum, the cleanup of the site around the I Love Linden sign and weeding of the yard of the Dorfolk Home, LFU Guyana Inc. is proud to continue its commitment to community service by participating in Global Cleanup Day on Sunday, September 20. This international effort unites millions of volunteers in more than 190 countries to remove waste from streets, parks, rivers, and beaches. We invite everyone to join us in caring for our community. Every hand helps, every action matters, and together we can make a lasting difference for Linden.
