Strengthening Education Through Leadership and Well-Being

From April 28–30, Linden Fund USA, in partnership with the Department of Education, Region 10, hosted a transformative Teachers’ Workshop at the NICIL Watooka Complex in Linden. Bringing together secondary school educators, administrators, and key stakeholders, the program focused on strengthening instructional practice, supporting teacher well-being, and enhancing long-term student success. Under the theme “Beyond Academic Preparedness,” the 2026 workshop expanded beyond traditional teaching strategies to address the social, emotional, and institutional factors that influence learning outcomes. Participants explored the evolving role of teachers as leaders, mentors, and catalysts for community development while gaining practical tools to foster more supportive and effective learning environments. The initiative reflects LFU’s commitment to advancing educational excellence and reinforces the understanding that student achievement is shaped by interconnected systems of support within and beyond the classroom. View the opening day of the workshop and highlights of Day 1 and Day 2 highlights.
Young Minds Shine at the 2026 Region 10 Spelling Bee

A beloved Linden Town Week tradition since 2009, the Region 10 Spelling Bee continues to celebrate academic excellence and inspire young learners across the community. Established by LFU in 2009, in partnership with the Department of Education, Region 10, and sponsored by ANSA McAL, the annual competition gives primary-level students an opportunity to showcase their literacy skills, confidence, and dedication. The 2026 competition featured impressive performances from students throughout the region. Serani Samuel of Wismar Hill Primary School captured 1st Place, followed by Jaheim McIntyre of Regma Primary School in 2nd Place, and Olivia Nedd of St. Aidan’s Primary School in 3rd Place, earning them electronic tablets and top 3 trophies. Ms. Eliana Tobin of Harmony Secondary School and winner of the Linden Town Week 2026 Teen Ambassador Pageant joined the region’s educators, and LFU partners, in distributing the prizes. LFU also thanks Regional Chairman Deron Adams for annually donating the Champion School Trophy and congratulates the students, teachers, and community supporters who continue to make the program a success.
Seniors Celebrated During Linden Town Week 2026

Linden Fund USA continued its commitment to the well-being of the community’s elderly by supporting two special events during Linden Town Week 2026. In partnership with Ladies on a Mission (L.O.A.M.), LFU contributed to the annual M&TC Senior Citizens’ Luncheon held on April 30 at Phillu’s Hall in Amelia’s Ward. Building on a collaboration that has delivered “Senior Lime” events since 2024, the LFU-L.O.A.M. partnership helped provide nourishing soup as part of the meal and transportation assistance for seniors who otherwise may not have been able to attend. LFU also joined the celebration at the 3rd Annual Chance Bros. Senior Brunch and Bingo on May 2 at Toucan Mall. LFU County Manager Keeran Williams and LFU Scholar Syesha Fraser, the Miss Guyana Teen With A Purpose 2026 pageant winner, engaged with attendees. LFU also donated two raffle baskets, helping to bring joy, fellowship, and meaningful support to the occasion.
