Big People Dance: Party with a Purpose!
LFU’s first Fall fundraiser, Big People Dance, brought friends and supporters together for a night of great music, dancing, and community spirit. With DJ Flexx keeping the party going, guests celebrated while helping raise funds to advance Linden Fund USA’s mission of revitalizing Region 10 through education, public health, and sustainable community development.
Meet Vincent Egerton Britton Memorial Scholarship Awardee Madanna Alstine
Hailing from Ituni, Region 10, Madanna Alstine is the inaugural recipient of the Vincent Egerton Britton Memorial Scholarship Fund, supporting her pursuit of a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Guyana. The GY$200,000 annual scholarship recognizes a promising student whose academic dedication is reflected in her impressive 3.8 GPA. Selected by the Britton-Greene family from a competitive pool of candidates, Madanna represents the promise and potential the scholarship seeks to nurture. The award also honors the legacy of Vincent Egerton Britton, whose visionary leadership as Chairman of the Guyana School of Agriculture Board from 1975 to 1979 helped advance the institution’s curriculum and development programs. In an interview with LFU’s Keeran Williams, himself a former University of Guyana scholarship recipient, Madanna reflects on life in Ituni, her educational journey, and meeting the scholarship donors during their visit to Guyana in December 2025. Hear her story and discover what this opportunity means for her future.

GTTC 15th Intake Alumni: Supporting Two Groups of Learners
Since the 2020–2021 school year, alumni of the 15th Intake of the Guymine Technical Training Complex (GTTC) have contributed more than GY $1 million to support two scholarship initiatives benefiting Region 10 youths. More than $630,000 GY has been contributed to the Eustace “Sammy” David Scholarship for Success (SfS) program, which supports secondary school students in Linden and Region 10. Launched in the 2018–2019 school year, the program was renamed in 2020 to honor a beloved former Linden Fund USA Board member. In addition, the alumni established an annual scholarship for Grade Six students at Howell Wilson Primary School in Ituni, Region 10, helping pupils prepare for the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA), the examination that determines their placement in secondary school. Through these two distinct scholarship contributions, the GTTC 15th Intake Alumni are investing in students at both the primary and secondary levels and helping expand educational opportunities across Region 10. We salute their generosity and commitment to the next generation!

Thought Leadership: Bryan Benn Publishes New Book
Legal analyst and public policy strategist Bryan Benn, a proud alumnus of Guybau/Guymine Trade School (now Linmine Training Institute, LTI) and native of New Amsterdam, has released When Power Merges with the State: Law, Oil, and Constitutional Discipline in a Small Republic. Drawing on decades of legal and constitutional expertise, including service as legal adviser to the Permanent Mission of Vanuatu to the United Nations, Benn examines how governance, institutional accountability, and constitutional restraint shape a nation’s development and democratic future. A graduate of Washington & Lee University School of Law and a staunch LFU supporter, Benn challenges readers and policymakers to consider how law and public accountability can help safeguard democracy and promote equitable development. Congratulations, Bryan, on this achievement! Explore Bryan’s website and get your copy, available in audiobook, e-book, hardcover, and paperback formats, as well as on Amazon Kindle.

A Welcome Facelift for LFU Guyana Inc.
From its 2019 dedication to its refreshed look in 2026, take a look at the transformation of LFU Guyana Inc.’s home in Linden, Guyana, and the community support that helped make it possible. Located on Washer Pond Road in Mackenzie, the building was generously donated by Habitat for Humanity Guyana and officially commissioned on April 26, 2019. Today, it continues to serve as LFU’s permanent base of operations in Region 10, with three furnished offices, a training room, an eat-in kitchen, and other essential facilities. A generous family’s $10,000 donation helped fund renovations, complemented by our Buy-A-Brick campaign, which supported the paved walkway, driveway, parking area, landscaping, and signage. The 2026 facelift marks another milestone in the building’s journey—and a reminder of what we can accomplish together. Thank you to all our friends, families, and supporters who continue to invest in LFU’s mission and future!
