2025 Membership Drive is Underway

Our annual membership drive has started. Linden Fund USA is in its 25th year as a charitable organization. We have remained steadfast in serving the residents of our beloved Linden and Region 10, paying it forward through various community projects, especially those related to education and supporting our youths. Our programs remind us that a community is built through collective action and we’re grateful that our LFU family comes together to help sustain and redevelop our own. All of this is possible because of your engagement and your membership support. Your ongoing annual membership gives us the flexibility to launch new programs and continue to make meaningful impact at home. Click on the membership application form.

Brunch Social in Brooklyn, NY, on April 12

Attending LFU’s annual Brunch Social with friends and family is always a delightful experience filled with laughter, good food, and meaningful conversations. The relaxed atmosphere, combined with familiar foods, set the perfect tone for catching up and sharing stories. Our Brunch event, on COVID-19 hiatus for three years, returned in 2024 to an overwhelming number of guests in attendance. This fundraising event features DJFlexx, lively performances by artistes, a raffle, and opportunities for small vendors. Tickets on sale now. Reach out! Come through!

Thanking Michael Campbell for More than a Decade of Board Service

Board member Michael Campbell is stepping back after over 10 years of service on the LFU Board of Directors. His engagement with the organization included two stints as chair of the New Jersey Chapter and a key member of the annual LFU Family Fun Day event in NJ. During his time on board, Michael cultivated LFU members to become active participants in the Caribbean Family Fun Day in East Orange, NJ. Michael said that “as a Lindener, it is a good thing to give back because the community trained and prepared him for adult life. All Lindeners should find a way to give back to the community.” He has always enjoyed reaching out and helping others. Michael states that “being a part of the LFU is not a monetary reward but offers a great satisfaction of service to others.” He remains a faithful and hardworking LFU member and a key part of the NJ Chapter planning team. Michael is married to Burget and is the father of four and grandfather to thirteen. Thank you, Michael, for your selfless service! We’re keeping you close!

Celebrating International Day of Education January 24

The UN-designated annual International Day of Education on January 24 allows us to reflect on our own mission to boost education in Linden and Region 10. Beginning in 2006, LFU members and trained educators from the U.S have traveled annually to Linden to partner with local educators to conduct multi-day workshops targeted to Linden, Ituni, and Kwakwani teachers and administrators, from early childhood to secondary school levels. LFU collaborates with Region 10 Department of Education both in the choice of topic and the teachers selected to participate in this immersive experience. Over the years, approximately 200 teachers and administrators have participated. The 2025 workshop is scheduled for March 11-13. See the Facebook posting of LFU’s 2024 Teachers’ Workshop

Highlighting Student Success Under our SfS Program

Our Scholarship for Success (SfS) program is a strong testament of LFU’s commitment to student success in Linden and Region 10, and our SfS scholars are making their mark. Exemplifying this is Oniha Bennett, part of the 2021-2022 SfS cohort, who has made us proud with her many accomplishments during the last year. She was the winner of the 2024 Town Week Impromptu Speech Competition, was recognized during last year’s Prize Giving ceremony at the Wismar Christianburg Secondary School (Multi) and was among the top places awarded by the Region 10 Department of Education in an Impromptu Speech Competition. During our annual end-of-year Holiday Fellowship and Enrichment program at NICIL Watooka Complex, Oniha also took on a leadership role among her cohorts. We’re proud of her growth and accomplishments, and that of all of our SfS scholars. You too can support these students and become a donor today to our transformative program that supports 35 secondary students annually. #Education #SupportOurYouth
