Dr. Walter A. Kyte Memorial Scholarship Impacts Lives
The legacy of the late Dr. Walter A. Kyte—respected educator, former LFU Board member, and dedicated superintendent in the NY school system—continues to inspire through the Dr. Walter A. Kyte Memorial Scholarship, established by his widow, Mrs. Jennifer Kyte. Rooted in a lifelong commitment to education, the scholarship reflects his passion for nurturing young minds and expanding opportunity. Since its launch in 2019, the award has supported the full academic journey of inaugural scholarship awardee, Dr. Brandy Esbrand, who successfully completed her studies at the University of Guyana (UG). Today, that legacy continues with Tyrah Fraser, a promising biology student pursuing her dream of becoming a pediatrician, recently receiving a laptop to aid her studies at UG. Administered in partnership with LFU, the scholarship stands as a lasting tribute, transforming lives and carrying forward Dr. Kyte’s enduring impact on education and community.

Recognizing the Elizabeth Wallerson-Bancroft Memorial Fund
The Elizabeth Wallerson-Bancroft Memorial Fund stands as a heartfelt tribute to a mother’s enduring belief in the power of education. Established in the 2023–2024 school year by siblings Janis Lewis-Hyles and Yonette Bancroft-Burke, the fund honors their mother’s deep commitment to uplifting young people through learning and opportunity. Managed by Linden Fund USA under the Eustace “Sammy” David Scholarship for Success Program, the fund supports two secondary school students annually—one each at Linden Foundation Secondary and Wismar Christianburg Secondary schools. Current scholars Kalissa Marshall and Lakayla Webster represent the promise this investment nurtures. More than financial support, this scholarship reflects love in action—children honoring their mother’s legacy by opening doors for others. It is a powerful reminder that investing in education transforms lives, strengthens communities, and carries forward values across generations.
