Thank you for the Big Show of Support at LFU Gala Oct. 5

It felt like a grand reunion of Lindeners in the Diaspora as community members from Guyana, Canada, and many states around the U.S. converged at Antun’s in Queens, NY, to celebrate LFU’s 25 years as a non-profit charitable organization. The Gala committee sends its deepest appreciation for those who showed up in their finery and mingled with friends in this milestone event held every five years! Thank you! See pictures on our website. LFU@25: Serve, Invest, Build, Transform

Thank You for Your Role in Making Our Gala a Success

LFU 25th Anniversary Donor Honoree Steve Connolly

Among the individuals honored at LFU’s quarter century milestone Gala was member and donor Steve Connolly, who was unable to attend the gala. A long-term donor who has helped to significantly sustain LFU over the years, Steve sent us this image of him at home with his LFU award and gala journal, surrounded by a copy of his first book, Children of Watooka, one of two novels he wrote about his childhood in then Mackenzie, British Guiana. We’re proud of all 13 anniversary honorees who represent a tiny fraction of the selfless individuals who have made lasting contributions to LFU over the course of its existence.

Author Focus – Candacy Anthony

From the town of Linden comes a young author, Candacy Anthony, who has courageously shared the personal account of her journey “from the humble beginnings of a small town in Guyana to the profound realization of her identity and purpose.” Her debut novel, “The Untold Story of a Once Naked Queen: From a Girl to a Woman," is a heartfelt chronicle of transformation, resilience, and awakening. As she intends, it is a compelling reminder that “every young woman has the potential to rise above her circumstances and discover the queen within.” Read more on LFU’s Facebook page.
